Tood Willingham innocent but executed in 2004,
Cameron Todd Willingham was executed in Texas in 2004 for allegedly setting a fire that killed his three young daughters 13 years earlier. He always claimed his innocence, and the arson investigation used to convict him was questioned by leading experts before Willingham was executed. Since 2004, further evidence in the case has led to the inescapable conclusion that Willingham did not set the fire for which he was executed.

Lindy Chamberlain sentenced in 1982 then declared innocent in 2012.
Azaria Chamberlain case finally closed

It’s taken four coronial inquests, a trial and even a royal commission. But today, a 32-year-old legal battle has finally come to an end.

Northern Territory Coroner Elizabeth Morris told a packed courtroom today that a dingo was to blame for the death of nine-week-old Azaria Chamberlain, who disappeared at an Uluru campsite in 1980.

This case originally saw Lindy Chamberlain — as she was known then — convicted of murder in 1982. Her husband Michael was found to be an accessory after the fact but was handed a suspended sentence. Lindy spent over three years in jail before being released following the discovery of a matinee jacket, evidence which threw Lindy Chamberlain’s conviction into doubt.

The case saw highly controversial forensic evidence pitted against eye-witness accounts that backed up the Chamberlains’ claims that a dingo had taken baby Azaria.
