irrelevant conclusion=
• is a fallacy and rhetorical figure frequently used in politics;
• is the argument leading to an irrelevant conclusion;
• can be illustrated from the presidential debate between Quayle and Gore:
Quayle: Bill Clinton can’t be trusted to tell the truth. He’s deceived the American people time after
time.
Gore: Dan. once again you’re mistaken. Let’s not forget who said “Read my lips; no new taxes.i:
The fact that somebody else deceived the American people does not undermine the fact that Clinton
did.
